I drive a 1.6 TDI VW Golf. Reg is 141. I am looking at trading in for a 171 VW Jetta. The Jetta is a two litre car. I am just wondering about fuel. Would it cost me a lot extra in fuel if I was driving a Jetta in comparison to a golf?
Hi Colm,
There's no straight answer to that, I'm afraid. It entirely depends on your driving style and where you drive the car. If you like to push on, then it's possible that you won't see much of an increase in fuel consumption, as the 2.0-litre engine won't have to work as hard for the higher performance. Same story on hilly terrain. The 1.6 Golf should be more economical in most situations, but it's never as simple as that. The fact that the Jetta is three years newer should work in its favour as well.
