Hi, I'm thinking of buying a 152 Octavia petrol (1.2 turbo). My mileage would be only 10-15K km a year so is petrol the better option? Also, does this engine have a timing belt or chain? What are the change intervals on the belt if applicable? Thanks, Keith.
Hi Keith,
With that low mileage, yes, petrol is definitely a better option than diesel.
That engine has a timing belt, but, unusually, there is no set schedule for its replacement. Instead, it must be checked by a mechanic at 240,000km and then every 30,000km after that until it is deemed necessary to change it.
