Problems with Renault knock sensors?

My 2005 1.5 dci 65 hp kangoo has a distinct detonation which seems happen when I see a lot of air bubbles in the fuel lines in and out of the diesel pump. Injectors pretry good. Very clean exhaust though. Can it be the detonation sensor going bad? Thanks

Our answer:

Hi there,

Yes, the detonation or knock sensor is a common enough issue on Renault diesel engines, albeit thankfully not a serious one. A new sensor costs less than €100 so I’d say just get the van to your dealer and get it sorted.
