Ok to swap Polo engines?
Hello, I'm thinking about buying a 1.2 petrol 2006 polo for my first car, there's an extremely cheap one but needs a new engine, would it be possible to fit a 2009 1.2tdi polo engine into the car, the price works out around the same as buying a tidy 2006 with decent miles

We'd strongly advise against this course of action. It would be physically possible to fit the TDI engine in, but it's highly likely that there will be issues with the electronics, requiring more expense than any garage would estimate. It's also a lot of hassle to go to when there are plenty of good second hand cars already about that should fit your needs.
