Ok to buy Japanese import?

Ok to buy Japanese import?

Is it ok to buy a volkswagen or an Audi imported from Japan

Our answer:

Hi Brian,

Theoretically, yes, as Japanese imports tend to be of high specification and well looked after with low mileage. However, you need to tread carefully when it comes to warranty and history, as the car may effectively have none. That's no problem on an older model, perhaps, but something to consider if the car is only a few years old. If you are going down this route, also ensure that the car is identical to one sold here, or you will face issues with parts.

In summary, unless there's something special or unique about the car that you can't get from an Irish or UK-imported alternative, we'd suggest you're better off looking elsewhere.
