Not sure which 4x4 to get...

I'm thinking of trading in my 2011 Hyundai i30 for a 4x4. Any recommendations? Been looking at the ix35 and like the look of it but don't know anyone who actually has one to ask. Have also looked at Qashkai but am on the fence with it regarding how much I like the look of it. Ford Kuga could also be an option but I'm open to any that will fit my criteria-diesel, max sale price around 12-15k(less the trade in on my i30, not sure what I'd get),fuel efficient, diesel, good safety record. Thanks

Hi Elaine,

You should get around €5-6,000 for the Hyundai as a trade-in (depending on the condition and service history). The Qashqai is a very good car, decent to drive and well made, but as a comparison, the ix35 is roomier, and possibly more reliable in the long term. Your budget should get you into a 2013 model of either. A Kuga is also a good choice, but make sure you get the current-shape version, as the old ones are noisy and very thirsty. Best choice of all could be a Skoda Yeti. Reliable, practical, safe, nice to drive and not too big or thirsty. A cracking car, but you might have to shop around a bit to find one.
