Thanks Shane. I hope to spend around 30/35k . I pull a Ifor Williams 505 double horse box and pull currently a single horse that weights about 600kg. I am looking for something that can comfortably pull him with four wheel drive. A lot of people have suggested the toyota land cruiser but I am struggling to find any that are for domestic use . thanks so much AM
Hi Ann Marie,
The Land Cruiser is an exceptional tow vehicle, but a little crude perhaps as a family car when not being used to tow. It'll also cost quite a bit to run and tax, even if you do find one with rear seats that can be classed as a passenger car.
A quick search through the Carzone database brings up a few good options for you, from about 2018-2019:
- Hyundai Santa Fe: look for the diesel models with four-wheel drive
- Kia Sorento: built on same platform as the Santa Fe - again stick to diesel and four-wheel drive for towing
- Skoda Kodiaq: only go for the 2.0 TDI model with the DSG automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive
Let me know what you think of those options.
