My car was actually written off...
Hi I traded in my car Friday in a garage & upgraded to another used car. I paid €5000 with my traded in car & signed documents however they rang today & said my old car had been in a write off before with previous owner which I didn't know about & now our deal cannot go ahead as they cannot sell my old car. I'm at my wits end they said I've to pay another 4500 towards value of car I bought plz help any advice??

This is a difficult situation and I'd strongly advise you get the assistance of a solicitor.
If the deal has already been done and signed-for, and the garage discovered afterwards that the car was a write-off, then my understanding is that they can't do much about it, especially if you already have the new car in your possession. They'd have to prove that you knowingly and dishonestly sold them a write-off, but even then I don't think there's much they could do.
If the deal is signed and they have not yet released your new car, then it gets tricky and you will need legal representation, I'm afraid.
