It depends on whether you are looking at new or used. It's difficult to recommend them as new cars as they are a little out of date and there are so many alternatives on the market that are more appealing, at the same price. 

The ASX makes more sense on the used market, if the price is right. It's quite reliable and robust, may still have some of the manufacturer's warranty with it and it's generally comfortable on the road and well-equipped. Even so, there are hundreds of equivalent alternatives, so go drive a few to see what you prefer yourself.
