A friend owns a 2014 Renault Captur in France - Charente Region. The engine has given up the ghost and Renault have told him they will pay only 60% for the engine and re fit. He has had his car at a Renault repair shop for more than 8 weeks awaiting work to be done without even the offer of a temporary car. What would you consider to be a reasonable time to wait for a new motor and then work to be done? Are you aware of similar problems with the Captur?
Hi Ollie,
You've not given us enough information on the engine issue for us to comment on it. We are not aware of any widespread issue causing engines to be replaced.
However, eight weeks is excessive to be waiting for the work, unless of course the garage indicated it would take that long or that they didn't know how long it would take. Your friend will have to look into the French consumer law surrounding this transaction before considering their next move, but they really should try to get a commitment from the garage for a given time frame.
