Good news – your car is worth €20,000 to €22,000 in excellent condition with low miles, so knock a few thousand Euro off for trade-in; so maybe €18,000-€20,000.

The Audi A1 range starts from €21,110, or €209pcm on PCP, as a three-door and from €21,710, or €219pcm on PCP, for a five-door Sportback. Top prices for the regular range are €29,590 for the three-door A1 and €30,190 for the Sportback; these exclude the S1 performance version, which is either €36,830 or €38,090. The good news is that your Golf will swallow up much of the value of the Audi, if you bought it outright in the first place, and so you won’t be looking at much to refinance for the A1.

But there’s a new A1 on the way so drive a hard bargain on the existing car as the dealers will be looking to shift stock. You should be able to get a better trade-in for your Golf, or knock the dealer down on price, or get some optional extras thrown in for free – or, best of all, get all three, so the deal is particularly sweet.
