Looking to change my car...

I am looking to change my car in 2025. My annual driving is about 5,000km made up of mainly infrequent journeys of circa 300km. I am wondering if it would make sense for me to buy a PHEV instead of a HEV or BEV. Are they more expensive and I would like a boot capacity of circa 500L . Any recommendations?

Our answer:

Hi Paul,

Without knowing your budget we can't be of as much help as we might.

In very general terms, PHEVs are usually more expensive than HEVs, but pricing varies wildly depending on brand and specific models. You sound like the perfect candidate for a full BEV so long as you can charge up at home.

Most of the most popular electric SUVs have a boot capacity in excess of 500 litres. A hybrid estate such as the Corolla is an alternative if you don't like SUVs.
