Looking to buy a used diesel car...
Hi, I'm looking to buy a used diesel car. I'm starting a new job in July where I have to drive from Cork City to Charleville so my annual mileage will be at least 25000 km but realistically will probably be closer to 30000. My budget is about 8000-10000 euro, and one of my main priorities is fuel economy. I am not concerned about power/aesthetics/size etc. I'm wondering what cars in my price range would be most economical?

There’s a lot of diesel-engined choice out there in that kind of budget range, so the world is your oyster. It will come down to personal preference and taste, of course, but our picks would be: Honda Civic diesel, either the 2.2 i-CDTi or 1.6 iDTEC — roomy, utterly reliable and very economical; SEAT Leon 1.6 TDI — again, hugely economical, spacious and reliable - omfy for covering all those miles, too; Toyota Auris 1.4 D-4D — incredible reliability, comfy ride, lots of space, fuel-sipping 1.4 engine.
