Looking to buy a 2012 Focus...

looking to buy a 2012 FORD FOCUS 1.6 DIESEL HATCHBACK TDCI ZETEC 113BHP 5DR; what are the issues I should check out in regards to this make, model and body type? Secondly, is there a price range that this model is selling at present - what would be seen as price appropriate; 3rdly, if paying by cash, is there a business expectation for a reduction in cost overall?

Our answer:

Hello Brian,

That’s a nice car to be looking at. Firstly, good news: there are no known major issues that we know of with that era Focus or the 1.6-litre TDCi engine. Secondly, for lower mileage cars (circa 60,000km), then you’re looking at a price bracket of around €11,500 to €12,500, for a 2012 car. Finally, cash can sometimes bring a price reduction in used-car values, but most businesses are savvy to that nowadays and hold firm when negotiating, so we wouldn’t be holding our breath for an absolute bargain, if we were you.
