The new Focus and new Ceed are both impressive cars, although the Ford wins better reviews for the way it drives and more praise for the quality of its automatic transmission. Both the Golf and the Q2 are known quantities – very high-quality machines. Weirdly, while being a crossover, the Q2 is not very roomy in the rear, so the Golf with the DSG gearbox would be our choice of those two. Thus, it’s between the newness of the Ford Focus and the strong image of the Golf. Try them both and it will come down entirely to which one you prefer.
