Without knowing your budget, this set of parameters gives you a simply vast amount of choice – you could have a MINI Countryman, a BMW X5, a Mitsubishi Outlander, a Subaru Outback, a Volkswagen Tiguan, a Hyundai Santa Fe, a Range Rover Evoque, a Subaru Impreza, a SEAT Tarraco, an Audi A6… we could go on!

Out of this lot, the Subarus are well worth checking out. They’re incredibly reliable and their four-wheel-drive system is amongst the best in the business. And while 4x4 automatic estates, crossovers and SUVs are more commonplace, 4x4 auto hatchbacks are not so much – so give the Impreza a whirl, or failing that, look for an Audi A3 quattro.
