Hi there, I'm looking at mid-sized cars like Audi A3 and Mazda3 etc. from about 2009-2011. Car will be for domestic and social use so low usage of up to 10k per year. Currently torn between petrol or diesel. Diesel lower on tax and fuel but maybe not as good for resale.
Hi Killian,
The A3 and Mazda3 are both very good choices, but you'd get more bang for your buck with the Mazda, and it’s also likely to be more reliable. Worth checking out Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Octavia, Kia cee’d and Ford Focus too. With a 10k annual mileage, I’d say you’re probably better off overall with a petrol car. Yes, you’ll get better economy (and actually resale too) from diesel, but you’ll be an awful long time getting back the extra you’ll have to spend up front in fuel savings.
