Looking to by a family Suv. Not sure if I should go diesel or hybrid. Wondering if there are changes planned for Diesel. Comfort, reliability low running costs and value for money are key. I have considered mid range SUVs in Toyota. Kia, Hiundi, Mazda and Seat.
Hi Brid,
If you’re looking at new cars, there is no real impediment to choosing a diesel as they should all be Euro 6d-compliant for emissions and therefore not likely to be subject to any NOx tax that is forthcoming. It also depends on your mileage and driving style – if you do lots of short, suburban journeys and you’ll cover less than 10,000km per annum, a hybrid is probably a better bet. If you go further, travel on motorways a lot and do an annual mileage of over 20,000km, you want a diesel. You won’t go too far wrong with the mid-range SUVs from any of those manufacturers, although Kia and Hyundai are worth considering thanks to their long manufacturer warranties if you intend to hold onto the car.
