Insurance is more down to you and your prior record than the car itself, but to get the best value you need to stick as close to a 1.0-litre engine size as possible. As you'll be driving mostly in town, that's ideal, as it rules out diesel (you won't need nor want it) and puts you into the wheelhouses of some cracking cars - Volkswagen up! or Skoda Citigo? Ford Fiesta EcoBoost? Peugeot 208 1.2 Puretech? Suzuki Baleno Boosterjet? All excellent choices.
