Hi Shane, Many thanks for getting back regarding boot space capacity for a wheelchair user. To hopefully narrow down the search, we will be in the market for a new Plug -in Hybrid with hatchback body style. To complice matters a little, we need to be carefull of the height of the door sil , the lower the better so that my wife can get her feet in. We would prefer to stick to a 'compact' style such as Corsa for driving accessibility but looks like their boot sizes are limited to max 350 Ltrs. We may need to compromise. Hope this clarifies.
Hi Noel,
Thanks for coming back to us, though you've still not mentioned budget. Even so, choice will be limited, as there are not many plug-in hybrids available in cars the size of the Corsa, and as you say, their boot sizes are generally not very large.
And looking at PHEVs in the class above that, their boot capacity is usually comrpomised by needing a battery pack underneath. For example, the Cupra Leon PHEV has a 270-litre boot, while petrol and diesel versions of the same car hold up to 380 litres. Same story for the PHEV Volkswagen Golf. The Skoda Octavia PHEV came with a big boot (450 litres), but it's not currently listed for sale as a new car for some reason.
Sorry to say that you're going to have to compromise on something.
