Not necessarily. Obviously, there's a huge groundswell around the world right now to penalise diesel power, especially in cities. Right now in Ireland, there's no penalty for diesel - quite the reverse in fact - but such penalties are probably coming. We should get a clearer picture after the budget in October. Generally speaking if you're living and working in town, or with a short commute, it's probably better to go for petrol, hybrid, or even electric. Longer mileage drivers, or those who cover endless motorway mileage, are still better off with diesel, but until we hear more from the government about what the plans are, we simply can't say for certain.
