Is this Golf GT ok?
Hi, Looking at buying a 2008 1.4L Petrol Golf with 143,000 Km. Told timing belt has been changed. Got a full history check; lots of gaps in tax history. Is this something I should be concerned about? Also, the grill & boot say it's a GT & it is registered in 2008 but from 2008, the GT became GTI!?

OK, first off, the GT didn’t become the GTI. The GTI has always been a separate, high-performance model in the Golf range, whereas the GT was a mildly sporty model, usually fitted with the 1.4 turbo TSI engine. Gaps in the tax history aren’t necessarily an issue — there are many totally benign reasons that a car may have been registered as off the road, but it would certainly be a good idea to ask the previous owner or owners as to why.
