Why should I change my up timing chain every 30000 km after the 240000km change?

First up, it's timing belts that need changing, not chains.
Some Volkswagen Group cars come with a schedule that suggests checking the belt at 240,000km and then every 30,000km after that. A change should not be necessary every 30,000km at all, but the belt should be inspected by a qualified mechanic.
