Is the Volvo S40 a good choice?
trading in my beloved ford focus 07, thinking of a volvo S40 prob 2012 ish- is this a good choice?

Yes, the S40 is a decent choice. It's a little cramped inside, but the quality levels are good and it's very safe, of course. If it's the 1.6 diesel, make sure it comes with a full service history and beware of clogged up exhaust filters, weak water and oil pumps and make sure it's had a steady diet of good quality synthetic oil. The central locking system can also be troublesome.
