It is better than the old one – it’s rare these days to find a manufacturer that can’t move a particular model on from one generation to the next – but the current A6 isn’t miles removed from the previous version. It has a more advanced interior and the new 2.0-litre TDI is a fine engine, but realistically, if you want an A6 and you’re on a budget, a 2011-2018 car would be a sound second-hand buy.
