Hi Shane The Mark 7.5 Golf 1.0 85BHP vs The Mark 7.5 Golf 1.0 110BHP. Is the 25BHP difference significantly noticeable? Also are both Turbo charged engines? Also, much difference between the Mk7 1.2 85bhp and the MK7.5 1.0 110bhp? Thanks
Hi Neil,
In order, the answers are yes, yes, and yes. Yes, you’ll really, really notice the extra 25hp between the 85hp and 110hp engine, and the fact that the 110hp is working less hard means that it’s more economical overall than the 85hp engine in most situations. They’re both the same base engine, of course, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit. The difference remains, more or less, the same when comparing the 1.2 85hp and the new 1.0 110hp — you’re certainly going to notice the 25hp gap, and arguably the 1.0 is the slightly sweeter engine to drive. Economical too.
