Is my Suzuki's timing belt ok?

Is my Suzuki's timing belt ok?

I have a susuki sx4 with 1.59cc engine year 2008. It has reached 130,000km. Will it survive the tests that will be carried out on it by the DOE/NCT/MOT regarding the timing belt.

Our answer:

Hi Emma,

The 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines of that age use timing chains so we assume this is the 1.6-litre diesel. The recommended interval for changing that engine's belt is 240,000km or 10 years so, based on the latter limit, yours should have been changed once already. We'd highly recommend you have it done if it has not been, regardless of any tests coming up.
