My vw polo year 2020 1 litre petrol tsi engine the car is well serviced oil and filter changed at 6 month interval 65thousand miles my concern is regarding the timing belt is the belt still within the safe limits as some vw garages change the belt 5 to 6 year time frame some mechanics said the the belt is a long life belt good for hundred to 120 thousand miles question what is your advice
Hi Aidan,
That engine's timing belt is indeed referred to as a long-life belt by Volkswagen, and its own scheduling states it doesn't even need checking until the car has done 300,000km.
Saying all that, if it were my own car, I'd certainly feel more comfortable having it replaced more frequently than that.
