Is my Passat nearly a classic?

Is my Passat nearly a classic?

I've a passat 2002 1.9tdi Red i since almost new.Its an excellent car with genuine mileage of 117k miles and no problems since new. HOWEVER,I've recently replaced the timing belt , the starter and complete clutch and plate in short succession at a significant cost to me I'm now thinking about the possibility of keeping the car and registering as a classic car in 2022 at 20 yrs as I do low miles. Also value is very low What are the laws and rules of classic car reg and is tax + ins reduced for me

Our answer:

Hi Donal,

Regrettably, you’re not quite there yet – our laws on tax and insurance etc, regarding classic cars, come into force when the vehicle is 30 years old, not 20 years old. So you’ll be waiting until 2032 if you want to register your Passat as a classic.
