My polo 2021, 1.0 tsi comfort line only gives me 460km on a full tank and the gauge is moving too fast is there something wrong? Why doesn't it give me 750km for a full tank, my car chows petrol even when I'm driving at a speed of 100km/h and it's brand new DSG
Hi Charmaine,
I've looked up the details and it appears that your car should have a 40-litre fuel tank and that the official combined cycle fuel consumption figure is 5.6 litres/100km. That works out as a range of 714km, but we know from experience that few cars can match the official figures unless driven gently.
Can you double check you're not accidentally using the 'Sport' mode of the gearbox, which is easily accessed by pulling the lever beyond the 'D' for Drive setting and letting it spring back? That would undoubtedly affect fuel consumption.
Other than that, all we can suggest is that the car might not be properly run in yet. Sometimes new engines take a while to loosen out properly.
Of course, other factors such as a lot of weight on board, roof rails/box, a bike on the back or underinflated tyres will also adversely affect your fuel consumption.
If none of that applies to you, and the car doesn't improve after a couple of thousand kilometres, perhaps bring it back to the dealer to have a look at it.
