Is my Mokka stop-start ok?

Is my Mokka stop-start ok?

Hi there, I have a 2013 Mokka diesel 1.7 cdti. It has a stop/start feature. Sometimes it will kick in and work a few times and then at the next set of lights it won't. Am I doing something wrong when approaching the lights? I'm rolling up in neutral with the clutch down then come to a stop and release the clutch. Sometimes it works then doesn't work straight after. Thanks.

Our answer:

Hi Joe,

Don't worry, all stop-start systems in all cars exhibit these tendencies. The stop-start system will only work if the engine's computer reckons everything is well with the battery condition and any demand on the battery. It will also limit the number of stop-starts it does in a given time to preserve the starting motor. There's nothing to worry about. If it stops working entirely then it's worth getting your battery checked.
