Is my imported Audi under warranty?

I imported an 2016 Audi Q7. It has had a run of niggling issues and Audi Ireland are claiming I have to recover labour costs of repair from Audi UK under their warranty. Audi Ireland covered parts only fro 'goodwill'. Is this possible?

Our answer:

Hi Brian,

I asked Audi Ireland about this and this was the response:

"All vehicles sold from Audi Ireland have the following warranty available:

  • 2 Years Unlimited Mileage European wide Coverage from the date of registration.
  • In addition to this Audi Ireland provides a 3rd year Warranty, Maximum 90,000km which also is European wide.
  • Up to the 5th year or 120,000km there is 100% drivetrain parts coverage.

However vehicles from the UK have the following warranty available:

  • As in Ireland they have a 2 Years Unlimited Mileage European wide Coverage from the date of registration.
  • In addition to this Audi UK provides a 3rd year Warranty but it is provided locally by Audi UK. Therefore it is not European wide.

As a result the Irish Audi Dealer network cannot claim against this 3rd year policy as it is self-funded in the UK and is not available in any of the factory systems for claiming.

Our dealer network do our best to look after such customers but unfortunately they cannot claim warranty the 3rd year in Ireland. Our best advice is the customer contacts the selling dealer in the UK or Audi UK customer care and they will advise the most efficient course of action to make the claim."

I do hope that helps clear things up, though Audi Ireland also said that, if you send all details to them, they can look into it in more depth for you to see what is the best course of action.
