Hi, I bought a second hand Audi A4 from a dealer in October 2023. I got a 12 mth warranty with it. It completely shut down on the motorway - every alarm/fault etc. It’s currently in the garage getting fixed. They rang to say come collect it but are refusing to tell me what was wrong with it or what repairs were done on it. This has alarm bells ringing for me! They’re saying they don’t need to tell me as it’s fixed for free under warranty. I haven’t collected it yet and I’m in their courtesy vehicle. What should I do as I’m concerned I have a dud car on my hands. Thanks
Hi Yvonne,
That is a most unusual situation though I'm not sure there is a legal instrument to force the garage to tell you what was fixed. Still, I would strongly suggest to them that you'd like to know and if they still won't disclose the information perhaps hold off on returning the courtesy car, informing them that you are seeking legal advice. Then perhaps contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for their take on the situation.
