Is it necessary to replace my Octavia's belt?
Is it really necessary to have a replacement cam belt fitted on my 5 year old Skoda Octavia 1.6 TDI DSG? .....37000 miles. Your advice would be much appreciated.

The usual recommended interval is 210,000km, regardless of time for that engine, but there's no harm in doing it earlier than that, especially if a mechanic has looked at the condition of the belt and reckons it should be replaced.
