Is high-mileage C-Max ok?

I am looking to purchase a 2007 Ford C-max 1.6 zetec it has one owner service history and looks in very good condition. It does however have 126 000 miles and my husband is very unhappy about it. he thinks it will not last us a good long while, it will give us problems. Both he and I do not know very much about cars. So we were wondering if this mileage is ok or not. We plan to have the car for at least another 5-7 years.

Our answer:

Hi Kim,

Really, mileage is the last thing you should worry about. Cars with high miles are often in better condition than low mileage ones, as higher-mileage users tend to keep their cars serviced on schedule and do much of their mileage on low-wear-and-tear motorways. What you need to check is the history and background of the car. If it comes with a nice, full set of service stamps and receipts, if the bodywork and interior are fresh and shiny looking and if the car has been properly cared for then it should be fine. The secret to making a car, any car, last is to drive it lots and keep it serviced.
