In 2017, is a second hand Diesel car a good choice compared to petrol? Seems like a lot of used diesel cars at the dealers these days. Makes me wonder.
Hi Fergus,
Diesel, for the moment, will retain its overall command of the Irish car market, at least until there are any changes in the taxation system, but you’re right that petrol is actually the far more savvy choice for many motorists, especially those doing low mileages. Buyers are copping on to that, and are starting to seek out petrol again. If you’re buying something that’s small, or at least compact and frugal, then a petrol car could be a very good idea. Bigger models will still need a diesel powerplant to keep their value, though.
