Hi Shane, I am wondering what is the most fuel efficient 2008 car for motorway driving - was thinking ford focus 1.6tdci but am concerned engine may be too small? Thanks for your time.
Hi Colman,
Nope, the engine’s not too small. In fact, it’s about perfect. A 1.6 diesel has about the right combination of power (well, torque really) and economy for regular motorway journeys. A Focus 1.6 TDCi would be expected to get above 55mpg in those circumstances. It’s well worth looking also at a Volkswagen Golf, Skoda Octavia, Toyota Auris (actually a 1.4 D-4D, but still fine) or, if you fancy something with real punch, a Honda Civic 2.2 i-CDTi, which sounds too big but has sensible CO2 emissions and very good economy.
