Generally speaking yes, they’re reliable and if it comes with the 1.6 TDCi diesel engine then, yes, that’s a solid engine. But, that does come with the caveat that you have to look after them to get maximum reliability. If it doesn’t have a full service history (preferably a Ford main dealer one) then I’d be concerned — that engine has weaknesses in the oil and water pumps, and the turbo, and needs a steady diet of high quality oil at service time. If there are gaps in the history, or you feel that it hasn’t been well cared for, walk away.
