Hi, I've not driven on the road for many years, after the recession hit ireland 10+ years ago. I've now started again but without my a full licence so provisional. I want to get insured on a 2.l D Jeep and having difficulties without a no claims bonus. Some providers even stated with a full, a no claims is still needed. I'd like a new 211 Jeep but don't see myself wasting money on a banger for an entire year. Any insurance advice, or insurers...
Hi John,
That is a difficult one - Irish motor insurance always is. We recommend two things: 1) Go for a car with as small an engine as possible, as insurers are still obsessed with the engine capacity, even though there are some great 1.0-litre turbocharged engines with far more performance than, say, 2.0-litre diesels. 2) Get in touch with an actual insurance broker in your area to do the digging around for you.
Best of luck
