Insignia, Kia cee'd or Insight?

Thinking to upgrade my car for around €10,000. In my mind, Opel Insignia 2.0-litre diesel, Kia ceed 1.6 diesel or Honda insight 1.3 petrol - all around 2009 or 2010 . I drive 50km motorways and 25km city drive every day. Which one is most reliable and cheap to run, please? Are there any chronic issues on those cars?

Thanks

Our answer:

Hi there,

No, no chronic issues, although they are all quite different. The Insignia is big, comfy and a bit executive-y, the cee’d simpler, plainer but very rugged and solidly built and the Insight is a slightly over-complex hybrid that you’ll struggle to get the necessary fuel economy from. If your driving pattern was reversed (50km city and 25km motorway) I’d say get the Insight, and in fairness it would be the most reliable car of the three. The Insignia would be the comfiest, but it’s really a long-legged motorway car and you’re only doing a relatively short haul. So I’d say go for the cee’d – it’ll be reliable, frugal and good to drive and should have about the right balance of talents.
