I'm upgrading to a 3.0-litre X5...

Have a 2016 2 Ltr diesel 4cylinder X5 and lookinto change to 2019 X5 3.0 I drive what will be the different running costs on road tax mpg etc

Our answer:

Hi Owen,

The difference in fuel costs between the two will depend massively on how and where you do most of your driving so that's not an easy one to calculate as it depends on your driving style to a large degree. If you resist the extra performance of the 3.0-litre engine and drive no faster than you have before on the open road etc. then the increase may be quite small.

In terms of motor tax, depending on specification, it's quite likely that both cars are in the same tax band, so there may be no increase.

Insurance is likely to cost you more though, so check that out before you commit to buying.
