We’d normally recommend a Skoda Octavia or maybe even a Superb here, but your need for a small engine for insurance purposes might mean these are out of reach to you (unless you can stretch to the newer 1.0-litre Octavia) – do check them out, though, to see if they work physically. It might seem absolutely odd to recommend this vehicle but some city cars are spacious in the front for tall people, as they have high roofs and the ability to move the seat right back. Have a go in the Hyundai i10 – it’s a superb runaround and insurance-friendly, and it might just suit your needs.
