There are lots to choose from as the double-cab pickup market is really, ahem, picking up. Top of the tree for us is the Volkswagen Amarok, which is big, comfy, refined and nice to drive. The Mitsubishi L200 and Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger are also well worth a look, and if you’re after a Nissan Navara, hold on because there’s an all-new one coming very shortly. One thing though – if you’re going to use the car for family transport as well, then you must tax it as a private vehicle. Your local motor tax office will be able to help you with this, but taxing it as a commercial and then using it for anything other than strictly business work can land you a hefty €4,000 fine.
