I'm buying a BMW 08, 320D 263,100 km, replaced timing chain, injector washer, rocket cover, front crankshaft pully, clutch kit, oil cooler ring's oil filter, air filters, €3,400, should I be worried about anything, I know nothing about car engines, kind regards
Hi Christy,
It's reassuring that so much has been done already, for sure, though with premium cars of that age and mileage, you can be sure there are likely to be other bills ahead. Check all the sub-systems, including the air conditioning, remote central locking, even the locking and unlocking of the steering wheel when you get in. Check that all the warning lamps illuminate with the ignition turned on, but then quickly go out after the engine starts up, as there's plenty to go wrong. Finally, as mentioned before, ask to see the service history. If it doesn't show regular oil changes through the years, I'd be tempted to walk away and find a different car - there are plenty of them about.
