Tricky one that, as really you only have seven days from the arrival of any car in the state to inform Revenue of it being here and book an inspection at your local NCT centre. You then have 30 days to complete the inspection process and pay the Vehicle Registration Tax. So, basically, unless you brought the car in less than a week ago, you’re probably not going to find a garage willing to take it as a trade in, as it’s not strictly legal. Even if it were, you’d just be landing them with paperwork and the risk of paying more VRT than they want to on it, so you’d be unlikely to find someone willing to deal with it anyway, at least anyone reputable.
