Good Afternoon,
I am currently driving an Opel Meriva, 2009, Automatic, with approx 45,000km on the clock. We are currently using an Isofix Maxi Cosi car seat and a normal front facing car seat for a three-year old. Occasionally we have the need to bring a nephew on journeys with a high back booster but this is a very tight squeeze. Can you please recommend an alternative family car, five or seven-seater that might be an option to change to, without having to put much more cash towards it after selling the Meriva? Automatic is preferable but not crucial. Not sure whether to choose low mileage over age, but would appreciate your advice. Low tax would be a factor so not looking for anything with too big an engine.
Hi Paula,
A good option here could be the Skoda Yeti. They're a similar size to the Meriva but have three individual seats across the back, which would make fitting in an occasional extra child seat a bit easier. Prices for a 2010 model start at around €12,500. Otherwise you're looking at a 'traditional' seven-seater. Your best bet there is a Toyota Verso or a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. If your budget will stretch, a current-model Kia Carens is also well worth a look. All of the above are available with automatic gearboxes if you shop around a bit.
