I need room for five and maybe four-wheel drive.
What cars/vehicles that can accomodate a family of five with decent leg room are most fuel efficient? Diesel engine wanted, not necessary but would be good if good fuel economy would also have four-wheel drive...

I think your best bet would be to look for a good late-model Honda CR-V. They’re absolutely cavernous inside and should be able to accommodate the family with ease, plus the previous generation model came with four-wheel drive as standard. The 2.2-litre diesel engine is decently economical but you might be surprised by the economy of the 2.0-litre VTEC petrol too – well worth a look.
