You may need to upgrade to something considerably bigger, although it’s worth pointing out that the Rapid has one of the narrowest back seats in the class (it’s based on the same mechanical package as the Volkswagen Polo, you see). I’d suggest something like a Volkswagen Golf SV (that’s the five-seat MPV version of the Golf) or, if you’re buying used, a Golf Plus. The Ford C-Max and Citroen C4 Picasso are also well worth a look, and if you want to keep the size down, try the Opel Meriva, although make sure you take along all the seats (and grandkids!) to check and make sure they’ll fit.
