I need a car that can fit three seats in the back...
I need a car that takes 3 full car seats in the back but I don't want a 7 seater or to have seast that are so tight the children cannot strap themselves in. I also need a very large boot. I would really like a car that looks nice. This rules out the sharon, galaxy, amax. I don't mind paying a bit more for this as plan to keep the car for a fairly long time. I would like a saloon or estate if possible. If not would land rover or the volovxc90 work? What would you advise? My car has broken down so I want to buy something in the next week or two.

An XC90, if your budget can stretch to it (and remember that tax and running costs are higher too), would be your best bet of all. It has masses of space and, as long as it's been looked after, it'll be reliable too (more so than a Land Rover Discovery).
If you're set on a saloon, try a Volvo S80 - one of the few saloons with a back seat big enough and the 1.6 diesel version is super-frugal.
