Hi Shane Thanks for coming back with an answer. Budget might be 10k to spend along with my trade in value . I really need a extra large boot for golf clubs & trolley. Trading in LR discovery 2019 with low mileage. Considering a lower tax bracket. Thank you again. Elaine
Hi Elaine,
First up, prices vary wildly for 2019 Discoverys, from as low as €40,000 to nearly double that. Without knowing anything more about your car we can't hope to know for sure how much it's worth on a trade in - and in truth, even if we knew everything about it, it's more difficult than ever to guess what any given dealer might offer you at any moment in time.
For the sake of argument, let's say you get €45,000 for your car and with your €10,000 you have a total of €55,000 to spend. And to reiterate, you still want a large SUV with a large boot, but want something that is cheaper to tax than the Discovery.
Using the Carzone search filters, I've come up with a few options for you to consider:
- BMW X5 xDrive40e
- Kia Sorento PHEV
- SEAT Tarraco PHEV
- Volvo XC90 PHEV
So all four are plug-in hybrid models that will cost very little to tax and, if you get a home charger - or have access to one at work - you might be able to carry out a lot of your driving on electric power at very low cost.
You should go check each out yourself to see if you think the boots are big enough, as not all are as large as the Discovery.
I also noticed that you could potentially pick up the new Nissan X-Trail within your budget. Its boot isn't quite as big as the Discovery's, but it is large and it's an efficient new car with the allure of a new-car warranty.
Best of luck with the search - let us know how you get on
